During regular use, dust from your valve stem can enter the gauge and begin to accumulate internally. Over time, this buildup may prevent the pressure indication from holding on the dial unless the chuck is held onto the valve stem. Although uncommon, if this happens it can quickly and easily be remedied with the following procedure:
1. Unscrew rubber hose
2. Remove spring, spring perch, and rubber seal
3. Clean internal components
4. Reassemble gauge
First, unscrew hose from the gauge base.
Next, carefully remove the spring, spring perch, and black rubber seal from inside of the brass gauge body.
Remove debris from black rubber seal and spring perch by gently wiping clean with a lint-free cloth. Next, blow on the inside of the gauge body (or use compressed air) to clean debris from brass components.
Reassemble in following order:
I. Spring (large end down)
II. Spring perch
III. Black rubber seal
Lastly, screw rubber hose back onto the gauge base
